What do Steele Rose and Co. do?
We provide an Estate Planning, Will Writing and Legal Document Service direct to the general public.

Are you Solicitors?
No, we are not but we offer expert services that are often better than can be obtained from the average general practitioner lawyer because we are specialists. We now have over 30,000 Clients.

Do I need any previous legal experience?
No, we provide full training on each of our products. However applicants with ILEX, BTEC, STEP or similar diplomas in Wills, Probate and Succession are welcome.
THIS PROFESSION WILL SUIT A PERSON WITH GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS.

How do you deliver your services?
Our services are delivered through a network of Consultants, spread across the whole of England and Wales. Our Consultants visit clients in their own homes. Consultants are not restricted to any postcode area.

Do I have to work at Steele Rose Offices?
No, many of our Consultants work from their homes and visit the Steele Rose Offices when convenient.

What sort of training do you offer?
We offer a four day course in Instruction Taking in Salisbury (we do not train you to write Wills) and an additional approx. 40 hrs home study (between the two training weekends) that gives you the initial competence to visit clients and take their Will instructions. We also offer refresher courses and information update sessions. These courses take place at the company's offices near Salisbury.

Do I have to pay for the course?
A payment of £600 is required. £400 will be refunded at a rate of £50 per completed instruction and associated Will(s). The balance is used to cover our costs. We are not offering a franchise.

For the training course you may need to find your own accommodation in or near Salisbury (there are plenty of good bed and breakfast's around), you could try the Amesbury Travel Lodge on the A303, Tel: 01980 624966.

Do I have to pass an examination?
Yes, initially you have to show that you are competent to offer our services to the general public. Our failure rate is low due mainly to the quality of candidates that attend our courses.

Must I sign a contract?
Yes, there is a mutually signed agreement that covers such things as commission arrangements and a statement by the Consultant that they will not work for or with any other company or organisation providing Will Writing or associtated services while they are working with Steele Rose or for a period of two years thereafter.

How hard do I have to work?
Some of our consultants work full-time however many are ex-military persons, business executives, legal executives etc in receipt of a pension and are therefore looking to top up income. The amount of top up income required of course varies from Consultant to Consultant. Many of our Consultants work for between one third and two thirds of their avaliable time.

Is the work during the day?
This varies but you can anticipate that some of your appointments will be in the early part of the evening and occasionally on weekends.

How much can I expect to earn?
This depends on the amount of time that you are prepared to devote to the task but generally our consultants earn between £1,000 and £3,000 per month (commission is based on fees received and should average over £200 per Client). If you require our latest fee list please let us know. A commission of 70% (after the first £25.00) is paid for all self generated will writing and associated legal documents and a commission of 50% (after the first £25) is paid if the lead or appointment is povided through the Steele Rose office or through an intermediary.

Will I be on the payroll?
No, all of our consultants are self-employed, this has some financial advantages for you.

Are any checks carried out?
We ask for a reference and require that a Subject Access Request be made by the Potential Consultant to their Local Police Headquarters, Data Protection Officer, and a copy of the 'report' (price £10.00) sent to us before attending the training course. (This is for the protection of Clients who may be elderly or infirm).

How will I get my business?
You will get your sales opportunities in a number of ways:-

You may be attached to Independant Financial Advisers close to your home and it will be your task to service hot leads from them and in return to give them any Financial Advice opportunities which are uncovered as a result of your visits to clients (this is all covered comprehensively on the course). This may be an important source of business but you should also receive warm leads and appointments made directly through our office. You will be required to follow up these contacts and make appointments to deliver the services.

You can also obtain business through your own contacts and efforts through advertising and referrals etc.

Do I need telesales skills?
No, but it is true to say that a good telephone manner obviously makes the task easier.

Do I have to be able to use a computer?
You do require access to a computer to visit the Consultant's Website at least once a week and access to an e-mail service.

What is the next step?
Submit your application and your CV and if this is approved we would like you to attend for interview at our Salisbury (Wiltshire) Offices.
